Daisy's new booties

Yesterday I picked up a pair of booties for Daisy, I thought she might need them when the weather gets cold in DC. It was no surprise she didn't care for the booties in the least, but her reaction was so funny!

Cute clothes

Old Navy has TONS of clothing and various accessories for dogs lately. The other day they had a few things that were on sale so I got Daisy 2 coats for the east coast. Aren't they cute!

Pretty party pug

We hadn't originally planned on bringing Daisy to the wedding, but she hasn't had the kennel cough vaccination so I couldn't leave her at the pet hotel for the weekend after all. I was a little relieved about that actually, since I didn't think she'd enjoy her time at the pet hotel. She had a great time at the wedding, after all she is a party pug!

Peek-a-boo!

When I came home from work the other day little miss Daisy was peeking under the fence at me! It was so darn cute. I was worried at first she could squirm under the gate and escape from the yard, but luckily she didn't even attempt it.

Lap dog

Lately Daisy has become quite the lap dog, even when doesn't seem like it'd be that comfortable.

All ready for halloween

Daisy's Halloween costume came in the mail this weekend. Isn't it funny! Aloha!

Fig pig!

We've netted our fig tree to try and save some of the fruit from the squirrels, and Daisy has learned that sometimes the tasty figs fall into the net. She will spend a great deal of time working on getting the figs out of the net so she can enjoy them. She just can't get enough of them!

Daisy's friend Chico

On Sunday we took Daisy to the dog park and she made a new little friend. Chico, the tiny pug puppy! She had a great time tearing around with him. I think he wore her out a little!

Rocky, get out of the water!

Daisy seems to take issue with Rocky swimming around in that COLD lake water!

Who is a cold wet dog!?

I tried to get Daisy swimming in the Lake again this past weekend. All she did was swim for shore. Perhaps the water is a bit too cold for her. I don't blame her, it was about 68 degrees!

Alert- product toxic to pets

Someone just emailed this to me, beware!

Cocoa Mulch lethal to dogs?

Verified by Snopes

VERIFIED ALSO BY GOOGLE

Yesterday one of our dog agility friends
experienced a tragedy and wanted me to pass a
special message along to all of my dog-loving
friends and family. Please tell every dog owner you
know.

Over the weekend the doting owner of two young
lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target(can be found at home
depot) to use in their garden. They loved the way it smelled and
it was advertised to keep cats away from their
garden. Their dog Calypso, decided that the mulch
smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large
helping. She vomited a few times which was typical
when she eats something new but wasn't acting
lethargic in any way. The next day, Mom woke up and
took Calypso out for her morning walk. Halfway
through the walk, she had a seizure and died
instantly.

Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on
the label, upon further investigation on the
company's website, this product is HIGHLY toxic to
dogs.

Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey's, and
they claim that "It is true that studies have shown
that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer
physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on
each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won't
eat it."

True information about the mulch! can be found
here -
http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/cocoa.htm
This site gives the following information:

Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot,
Foreman's Garden Supply and other Garden supply
stores, contains a lethal ingredient called
"Theobromine".

It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like
chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will
ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already
occurred in the last 2-3 weeks. Just a word of
caution, check what you are using in your gardens
and be aware of what your gardeners are using in
your gardens.

Theobromine is the ingredient that is used to
make all chocolate ? especially dark or baker's
chocolate ? which is toxic to dogs.

Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic
quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound
similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A
dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch
made from cacao bean shells developed severe
convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the
stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells
revealed the presence of lethal amounts of
theobromine.

Please email the manufacturer at
michellemessick@hersheys.comand request that
accurate information about this product be posted on
the packaging to avoid further tragedy.

PLEASE GIVE THIS WIDEST DISTRIBUTION !!!

Someone doesn't care much for swimming

I took Daisy swimming in the lake for the first time and she was not a fan. She just swam straight for shore and tried to climb out! What a wimp!

Too much playing

Daisy was just exhausted with all the playing she did at Donner this weekend, she's had to do a lot of napping to recover.

What's wrong with this picture?

Hint, check out her feet! Someone has been running across the freshly cut grass!

PET RULES

To be posted VERY LOW on the refrigerator door (nose height).

Dear Dogs and Cats,
The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob, or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years -- canine or feline attendance is not required.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:

To All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About Our Pets:
1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur"niture.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours, and doesn't speak clearly.

Remember: Dogs and cats are better than kids because they:
1. Eat less
2. Don't ask for money all the time
3. Are easier to train
4. Normally come when called
5. Never ask to drive the car
6. Don't hang out with drug-using friends
7. Don't smoke or drink
8. Don't have to buy the latest fashions
9. Don't want to wear your clothes
10. Don't need a gazillion dollars for college, and...
11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children.

Daisy has been tagged!

Hello all!
I have been tagged by my friend Daisy to tell five weird things about me.

1. Carrots are one of my absolute favorite treats! I know other dogs that like them but everyone always seems surprised when they see me snacking on them.

2. My best friend is a huge german shepard. We are sort of an odd looking pair, but we just love to play together!

3. I have been known to sneak into the kitty litter box for some "snacks", humans seem to find it rather gross for some reason.

4. I remember at EVERY house I visit, where the cat's food is kept and immediately upon arrival dash over to eat it.

5. I love to sit in the dishwasher and "pre-rinse" all the dirty dishes. I am such a good helper!

I'll tag:
Mini
Bandit & Paisley

That's all I can think of, everyone seems to have been tagged already!

Pugs for dinner!

Daisy just loves to lick plates or anything food has touched really. She was avidly licking this pan for quite some time. She even has her front paws IN the pan, got to get every last molecule of food!
