Doggie Ice Cream

Over the weekend I took Daisy to the Scraps Dog Bakery in Truckee where we happened upon Ice Cream for dogs, of course we had to try it. Here she is enjoying some "Snicker Poodle" Ice Cream, I think she likes it!

As per usual Daisy was hanging out in the diswasher, making sure all the dishes have been properly "rinsed". Though I think this time she was enjoying how cool it was in there.

Cooling vest

Daisy's cooling vest finally came, and of course now it is nice and cool out! At least now we have them ready for when it gets hot out again. One of my friends said she looks like a firefighter in this getup!

Almost cuddling

Micah is no longer a willing playmate for Daisy since she now outweighs him and her enthusiasm for wrestling with him has not dwindled. She charges at him and knocks him down, he is not a fan. He has taken to hissing all the time, even if she is nowhere near him, just for good measure. He usually doesn't tolerate her anywhere near him, so this is about as close as they get to cuddling these days.

Sometimes you just need a whole pile of pillows to get comfortable!

Yucky bone

I recently got Daisy this Braided beef bone from Trader Joe's and she LOVES it. The problem is when she chews it she doesn't really seem to bite anything off, so it just gets these long stringy gummy ends on it. It is really gross and she always wants to come sit on someones lap when she chews it. Trust me, you don't want that thing touching you!

Daisy the Baker

My mom was making cookies this morning and Daisy did her best to help by "cleaning up" any flour that was spilled. What a good helper!

My Hero

I was fretting on google talk to my good friend Tiff about the heat today and how I was worried about Daisy. Normally she is home with my parents and they look after her, but today is the hottest day we have had to date and she is at home alone. Tiffany immediately offered to go check in on her since her office is a few minutes away from my house. My hero, seriously. I would just be sitting here worrying about her the rest of the day. Thank goodness for good friends! Tiff put on her cool Pugahontas poncho to help keep her cool the rest of the afternoon.

We don't have AC since there are not many hot hot days in the bay area, luckily when I make the move to DC the townhouse is air conditioned so I will not have to worry about little Daisy overheating. In the meantime I ordered her a cooling bed, and a cooling jacket. Let's hope these keep her cool otherwise it is off to doggie daycare on the hot days.

Daisy is a Graduate

Of obedience school that is. Last night was the final class for the beginning Canine education class at Petco and Daisy passed with flying colors. Well, okay she isn't that great at heel just yet but she is improving.

The dogs had to line up and do a sit, stay until told to come, this is something Daisy has gotten quite good at. She is quite enthusiastic when you say "Daisy come!"


They also had to do a down, stay. Daisy has mastered roll over, so when I tell her "down", she always starts to do roll over too, until I tell her no.

Staying cool

My mom finished Daisy's cooling pancho the other day and despite it not really being warm enough to need it, she thought Daisy should give it a try. It looks SO funny on her! She looks like a scout of some sort.

Daisy made her first trip up to Donner lake this past weekend, she loved it!

Daisy's new friend

Daisy made a new friend over the weekend. At first Rocky just wanted to attack Daisy, she didn't seem to want to be friends. Finally they seem to be getting along and are having a great time running around together.



Daisy even let Rocky have her rawhide bone. Only took her about 5 minutes to gulp that down!

Keeping cool

Does anyone have any tips on how to keep a pug cool? I have heard that they can get heat stroke at temperatures as low as 70 degrees and last weekend was pretty hot here so I was trying to figure out how to keep Daisy cool. I have seen they have little cooling jackets you can buy for dogs, has anyone tried those?


I tried using a damp rag, which she didn't seem to mind, but of course anytime she moved it fell off.


After seeing the cooling jacket online my mom decided to try and fashion Daisy something out of this cooling bandana she had for herself. I haven't seen the finished project, but I think she looks like Pugahontas here (notice the beaded fringe, nice touch no?).

New Halter

I just got Daisy her first Puppia Halter, isn't it cute?

I don't know what compelled Daisy to lay in there like that, it doesn't look comfortable at all! She has 3 other beds to sleep in!

Daisy & Macie

Daisy went to visit her "cousin" Macie a couple weeks ago, even though she is much biggher than Daisy, they have tons of fun together!

She loves any and all squish pillow, in fact she has claimed every single one as her own!

Daisy wanna bath?

Last weekend we gave Daisy a bath, which she no longer minds. She does however, make it hard to dry her off as she thinks stealing the towel and "killing" it is a fun game.
